He earned a BS in history and political science from Vanderbilt University and an MS in personnel management from Troy State University. He is certified in homeland security and is a certified director of safety by the North American Transportation Management Institute. Formerly, this expert served as a logistics director and personnel manager for Wal-Mart, a corporate manager of DOT and fleet safety with Georgia Pacific Corporation, and the vice president of safety and compliance with Unisource Worldwide Inc. He went on to become a manager of safety and regulatory compliance at XATA Corporation before opening Haffenden Consulting where he was the owner and proprietor.Most recently, he served as the vice president of safety at CRST International before moving to his current role as a compliance strategy officer at a trucking logistics company in Iowa.

He began his career with Yellow Cab Company, the oldest and largest taxicab service provider in the US and ultimately served as the President of the organization for 18 years. He is responsible for transforming the Yellow Cab Company from a midsize local operator into the largest fleet in the country. He went on to serve as the President of Midas Auto Service and led 10 franchises before he transitioned to Taxi Medallion Management LLC, where he grew the company to a fleet of over 800 medallions. Currently, he serves as a transportation consultant in Illinois where he provides consulting services to passenger transport organizations and advises on issues related to DOT regulations, hiring, and safety.

This highly qualified hazardous materials transportation expert earned his BS in Industrial Engineering, his MS in Engineering Management, and his PhD from Kennedy Western University. This expert has been involved in the development and implementation of hazardous materials safety regulations for more than 30 years and has been responsible for a broad range of domestic and international hazardous materials safety efforts. He has served as the chairman of the UN Sub-Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, and as the chairman and vice chairman of the ICAO Dangerous Goods Panel. This expert spent 18 years in the Department of Transportation/Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration's Office of Hazardous Materials Safety, and currently serves as the VP of Government Affairs/Consultant for a private hazardous materials shipping solutions firm.

This expert has over 40 years of experience in municipal traffic engineering, transportation planning, highway design, traffic system operations, right-of-way acquisition, and Intelligent Transportation Systems.
