This expert has over 35 years of forensic engineering experience, and he has investigated and worked up more than 100 cases in each area of slip/trip/miss and fall, accident reconstruction and crash analyses, and product failure. He earned his MS in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University and his EMBA from Southern Methodist University. He is a fellow and member of both the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the International Society of Automation and a registered professional engineer in Iowa. He holds 11 patents related to control valve design and maintenance and has published a book and several technical articles on control design, installation, and maintenance. He worked with Fisher for over 15 years in various roles, as a product engineer, a nuclear liaison engineer, a senior project engineer, and finally as vice president of global nuclear business. This expert is currently a consultant at an independent mechanical engineering company.

This expert has over 30 years of experience in the roofing and building enclosure industry. He earned his AAS in civil engineering technology from Hawkeye Institute of Technology before earning his BA in computer science and business administration from Coe College. He is licensed as a professional engineer in 4 states and is a registered roof consultant and exterior wall consultant. He is active in his field as a member of ASTM International, the Roof Consultants Institute, and the Building Enclosure Council, and as an author of several articles on roofing and building codes. He formerly served as a design engineer and project manager for Shive-Hattery Engineers and Architects, the office manager for VJ Engineer, and a project engineer with Brown Engineering, where he was responsible for building envelope and roofing consulting projects. Currently, this expert serves as a project engineer for facilities at a roofing engineering consulting firm based in Iowa.

This expert has over 15 years of experience in the medical device industry as a quality engineer, quality systems and complaint investigator with emphasis on cardiovascular devices. A Certified Quality Engineer and Biomedical Auditor, his expertise includes managing quality systems, design and development of new product lines, product risk management and complaint investigations. He currently serves as Principal quality management systems and business Consultant for an independent consulting firm in both medical device and other industries. His understanding of medical device firm operations and intimate familiarity with medical device requirements in both the US and other geographies make him an ideal expert to provide advice in determining both legal and regulatory requirements for medical device firms as well as users (clinicians).

Expert in rapid transit accident investigation, particularly rolling equipment and motive power, event recordings, track, operations, train handling, and human performance. He retired from the National Transportation Safety Board after 22 years as an investigator-in-charge in which time he participated in 57 major accident investigations, 32 field accident investigations, 10 public hearings, 16 depositions, and 6 special studies.  He wrote 11 major accident reports, 8 field accident reports, and personally conducted 10 sworn depositions. He was responsible for over 157 adopted NTSB safety recommendations in all facets of rail transportation. He previously worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad as a mechanical department manager. After his NTSB retirement, he became Assistant Vice President of Operations, Planning and Analysis for Rail Sciences Inc. As the son of a now 96-year old retired locomotive engineer who had 42 years of service, he grew up in a railroad family and became fascinated with trains and the rail industry, particularly safety.
