He earned his BS in criminal justice administration from Northeastern State University and is a certified firearms instructor. He previously served as a deputy sheriff at the Adair County Sheriff Department, as an armed patrol agent for Command Security Services and as a lead corrections officer for the Jackson County Department of Corrections. He is currently a correctional officer academy instructor, a supervisor (lieutenant), and an internal affair/pre-employment background investigator for a county correctional department in Missouri.

He has completed several training sessions through the Ultimate Defense Firing Range and Training Center related to firearms and use of force and is a second degree black belt in tae kwon do. He is licensed to practice in 7 states and holds certifications in personal protection inside and outside the home and basic pistol, rifle, and shotgun through the National Rifle Association. This expert is also a federal firearms licensee. Currently, he serves as the founder and principal of a safety consulting firm and the managing partner and a founder of a law firm in Missouri.

This expert has 25+ years of law enforcement experience, for the vast majority of which he served as a fire investigator for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
