This highly qualified expert has more than 30 years of experience in the field of industrial hygiene. He earned his BA in chemistry from Macalester College before earning an MS in food science, an MPH in environmental health, and a PhD in environmental health all at the University of Minnesota. He is a certified industrial hygienist in comprehensive practice and chemical aspects. He formerly served as hazardous waste manager at the University of Minnesota and as a research associate - analytical laboratory supervisor at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He then went on to work as a staff scientist at Hazleton Laboratories of America, as director of industrial hygiene at Northland Environmental Services, and finally as a professor of industrial hygiene and environmental chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. He currently serves as a senior consultant in industrial hygiene at a consultancy in WI.

He is highly involved in his field, having authored hundreds of research publications throughout his career. For his work, he has received numerous awards. He has formerly served as the chair of civil and environmental engineering at both the University of Washington and the University of Wisconsin, the director of the Wisconsin geotechnics laboratory at the University of Wisconsin, and a professor of geological, civil, and environmental engineering at the University of Wisconsin.
