Alcohol Expert Witnesses in New Jersey

This expert has over 45 years of experience in the field of alcohol research, alcohol industry standards, and drinking behavior. He earned his BA in anthropology and forestry from the University of Montana before earning both his MA and PhD in cultural anthropology from SUNY Buffalo. He also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in biomedical research at the University of North Carolina Medical School and is a member of the New York State Council on Problem Gambling. This expert is active in research in his field, having authored several peer-reviewed scientific articles and two books, as well as served internationally as a lecturer on alcohol-related topics. He previously served as the director of alcohol & drug abuse programming at the University of Minnesota, as the founder & associate director of the Center for Addiction Studies, and as the director of alcohol & drug prevention at SUNY System Administration. This expert is currently an independent drinking, gambling, and smoking consultant in New York.

This expert began his professional career within the field of behavioral health in 1989 while working towards the obtainment of his undergraduate degree in Psychology. Since his graduation in 1991 he has worked in progressively responsible positions within mental/behavioral health, criminogenic, and substance abuse treatment modalities. This expert has served as the Program Director and Primary Therapist for a Long Term Trauma Recovery Program, as the Program Director for a co-authored program providing contracted services to PA DOC, as the Facility and AOD Director of a 185 bed Specialized Community Correctional Facility, and as the Center Director for outpatient centers which include medically assisted treatment service deliveries; to name a few. This expert has worked extensively as a behavioral therapist, from the front line to planning, designing, implementing and administering tailored programs. This expert has extensive experience maintaining full licensure, accreditation, credentialing and certification in various modalities, such as residential and outpatient venues under multiple regulatory bodies (ACA, CARF, DDAP). He has demonstrated a proficiency at managing both large and small staffs, and maintains teaching or practicing certifications in: Critical Incident Stress Management, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma Therapy. In addition to his full time work, this expert serves as an adjunct professor in the Sociology and Anthropology department of Wilkes University providing instruction to undergraduate students and as part of the Criminal Justice Advisory Board. Additionally, has operated a small private practice providing program development, grant drafting, consultation and evaluation, along with counseling since 1996. This expert received his Master of Health Administration and his BA in Forensic and Clinical Psychology from Wilkes University in 1995 & 1991; respectively. This well-credentialed expert is a licensed psychologist in New York and New Jersey, as well as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in New York. He earned his B.A. in Psychology from Adelphi University, his M.A. in Clinical Psychology, and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After completing his Ph.D., the expert began his career working at the Catholic Charities foster care and group home agency in Brooklyn. He later directed a large mental health system in Oklahoma and then served as the Clinical Director of a large county mental health clinic upon returning to New York. The expert is active in New York and New Jersey as a forensic psychologist, providing testing and assessment of patients including psychological diagnosis, child abuse/neglect assessments, and alcohol/substance abuse assessments.
