This highly qualified expert has extensive experience in the field of pain psychology, specifically focusing on multidisciplinary chronic pain management. He received his BA in urban studies before going on to earn his MA and PhD in counseling psychology from the University of North Texas. He is a certified pain educator and a licensed psychologist. He is active in his field as a member of several organizations, including the American Pain Society, the American Academy of Pain Medicine, and the International Association for the Study of Pain. This expert is also highly involved in research, having authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, presented as an invited lecturer at various conferences, and as a member of multiple editorial boards for a number of pain journals. Among his former positions are director of psychology at Rehab Medicine Associates, executive director of the Foundation for Ethics in Pain Care, director of research for the Us Pain Foundation, and director of behavioral medicine at Pain Management Options. This expert also owned and operated two private practices in clinical and health psychology for over 25 years. She holds an NCC certification as an inpatient obstetric nurse (RNC-OB) and a Healthy Children's Project certification as a lactation counselor (CLC). He formerly served as a labor and delivery nurse at St. Francis Hospital, The Hospital of St. Raphael, San Antonio Community Hospital, and Midstate Medical Center. She currently serves as a labor and delivery nurse a major medical center in Boston, Massachusetts. At this medical center, she also serves as a labor and delivery quality improvement task force member.
