Aviation Expert Inspects Aircraft Engine Following Fatal Crash

Case Overview
This case involves three individuals and a pilot who were all killed in an airplane crash. The aircraft was a PA28-236 Dakota owned by the deceased pilot. The plane departed at 2:15 pm from northern Montana en route to central Wyoming. The aircraft crashed around 2:45 pm killing all passengers on board. Prior to take off, the plane had been refueled and weather conditions on the day in question were ideal for flying. An expert in aviation familiar with this model aircraft was sought to inspect the engine and opine as to whether any deficiencies or manufacturing defects caused the crash.

Please briefly describe your experience with engine components for small aircraft.
Components used in small aircraft are similar to those used in high-powered automotive engines. I have consulting and research experiences in the evaluation of engine performance enhancement methods.
Do you have experience engineering / designing / inspecting these aircraft turbochargers?
In addition, I have conducted multiple research projects in gasoline and gas-turbine engines, in particular for damages to compression devices. I have expert witness experience in engines, including deposition and review reports.
About the expert
This highly qualified expert has over two decades of experience in Aerospace Engineering. He received his BS from Ohio State University, his MSE and PhD in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Michigan. He was a NASA faculty Fellow and NASA GRC fellow, and has over 10 published articles, 15 reviewed articles/research, and 1 book. This expert has extensive experience in automotive and aircraft engineering and aerospace propulsion. He was a former Assistant Professor at the Arizona State University, a Research Associate at Pennsylvania State University. He currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at a University on the West Coast.
