He earned his BS in biology, chemistry, and environmental science from the University of Tampa and holds a certification as an environmental professional. He is very active in his field as a member of multiple professional societies including the International Water Association, the National Association of Environmental Professionals, the Society of Ecological Restoration, the Society of Wetland Scientists, and the Association of Wetland Managers. In addition, this expert has published multiple times in Build Magazine and is an ongoing contributor to Straughan Environmental, Inc. blog. Formerly, he has held many positions throughout his career including natural resources biologist, environmental specialist, and regional chief of the wetlands and waterways program for the Maryland Department of the Environment. He then served as a natural resources planner at the Chesapeake Bay Critical Areas Commission and then became the director of environmental services for both Soltesz, Inc. and Whitman Requart & Associates, LLP. He is currently the principal of his own environmental consulting firm out of Maryland.
